But the most unusual thing about us isn’t where we are located. It’s who the clinic was built for.
We only treat dogs.
We have made the decision to transition from a traditional small animal clinic to a clinic exclusively for dogs. We have done this—as the only ones in Denmark—to create the best possible setting for veterinary visits for dogs.
Why only dogs?
A visit to the vet is filled with sensory impressions.
Strangers. New sounds. Smells. Other animals. Examinations and situations that the dog doesn’t necessarily understand.
When the clinic is exclusively for dogs, we can remove some of the factors that might otherwise contribute to anxiety and stress.
Your dog won’t have to deal with cats or other animal species in the waiting room, the consultation room, or the rest of the clinic.
But a clinic just for dogs is more than just the absence of cats. It also means we can design our workflows, our physical environment, and our professional focus around a single species.
A veterinary clinic exclusively for dogs allows us to build the entire process around the dog.
Stress-free handling is not an optional extra
With us, stress-free handling isn’t something you have to order separately.
It is part of the way we work.
We monitor the dog’s body language and emotional state while we examine and treat them. We adapt our handling, give the dog time, and try as much as possible to create cooperation rather than resistance.
Treats can be part of the work to create positive associations, but they do not replace respect for the dog’s signals and boundaries.
If a dog becomes afraid, our first question is therefore not just:
How do we get this done?
But also:
Why did it become difficult, and how can we do better?

You don’t need to have a dog with a fear of the vet to choose Hundeklinikken.
On the contrary.
We would love to get to know your dog while they are still walking through the door without a care.
Stress-free handling is therefore not just about helping dogs that are already afraid.
It is also about preventing fear from arising in the first place.
High professional standards and consideration for the dog go hand in hand
Taking the dog’s emotional experience into account does not mean we compromise on veterinary treatment.
On the contrary, we see the two as parts of the same task.
We prioritize professional development and continuing education highly, and we work continuously to develop both our veterinary treatments and our methods for stress-free handling.

We have our own laboratory and can therefore analyze a range of blood and urine samples directly at the clinic.
We also have X-ray equipment for diagnostic examinations as well as separate dental X-rays.

Specialized knowledge of behavior and handling
Hundeklinikken has a special professional focus on dog behavior, fear of the vet, and handling issues.
Our veterinary nurse Katrine Hammer is a trained dog trainer, Fear Free certified at the Elite level, and a certified Cooperative Care Trainer.
She has specialized in stress-free handling for many years and also teaches veterinarians and veterinary nurses in the field.

Privately owned and independent
Hundeklinikken is privately owned and independent. We are not part of a veterinary chain.
For us, this means the freedom to decide for ourselves how we want to run the clinic, which values should take center stage, and where we want to allocate our resources.
Hundeklinikken is run by the people you meet at the clinic.
We want to know your dog
We want to know your dog while they are young and healthy.
When they get sick.
When something suddenly becomes difficult.
